Buying

Buying with us couldn’t be simpler.

At Old Brewery Auctions, we take things back to the thrill of the in-person auction in our fast-paced Friday evening auctions in which we typically sell around 600 lots over 3 hours or so.

All of our sales are offline with in-person bidding in the room.

Simply register for a paddle number as you arrive and you’re ready to bid! Registration is a simple process and takes just a couple of minutes.

You can then pay for and collect your purchases throughout the auction as the evening progresses – you do not have to wait until the end of the sale to pay and collect.

You can also bid via commission bids left with the auctioneers before the sale.

This is where you leave the maximum amount you are willing to bid for any given lot(s) with the office and these are added to the auctioneer’s sheets – with the auctioneer attempting to purchase the lot for you as cheaply as possible.

For example, if you leave £50 against lot number 1 and the highest existing bid on the auctioneer’s book is £25, your bid will commence at £30 and you will purchase the lot for this price unless a bidder in the room takes the bidding further during the live auction.

Bids placed close to the commencement of the sale may not be registered and so we request that all commission bids are placed no later than 2pm on the afternoon of the sale day.

Our auctions are on view in person from 16:00 on the evenings of the sale ahead of auction commencement at 18:00 and can be viewed as the sale takes place.

You can view our fully illustrated auction catalogue online from the Thursday evening ahead of the Friday night auction.

Our buyer’s fees are simple and easy to understand.

We charge a buyer’s premium of 15% on top of the hammer price reached. This means that if a combination of lots purchased had a total hammer price of £100, your amount payable will be £115.

We welcome payment via cash, all major debit and credit cards (excluding American Express) and via bank transfer.

All goods MUST be collected on the evening of the sale or by 4pm the following day (Saturday).

Any lots uncollected will be subject to storage fees or re-entering into the following auction.
